| Job description: |
Interacting with university investigators regarding their research, inventions and the commercialization process.
Responsibilities:
- Assessing the technical and commercial potential of disclosed inventions.
- Developing and implementing strategies to successfully market and license inventions.
- Identifying possible industrial partners capable and interested in commercializing technologies via market research and network of contacts.
- Composing marketing materials, such as non-confidential one-page summaries, posting and updating these materials as patent applications are published and more data is generated
- Supervise student employees.
- Conducting due diligence on potential licensees, including review of business and marketing plans for viability
- Drafting term sheets for license negotiations, drafting and negotiate a variety of agreements (biological materials transfer, confidentiality, option, inter-institutional)
- Ensuring appropriate university faculty and administration are informed of and understand the terms of relevant agreements.
- Directing/performing special projects within the office and prepare periodic reports as assigned by the Director of Technology Transfer. Participating in educational service programs to the campus community related to intellectual property issues and awareness.
- Work with outside counsel in preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications; plans to commercialize inventions, novelty, etc. to support decisions to file patents; analyze and work with outside counsel to respond to Office Actions.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should have demonstrated technical proficiency at the Masters level or higher in business, engineering or chemistry, and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably with 3 years in technology transfer or patent law
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong negotiating skills; ability to understand constraints of deal stakeholders (faculty, licensees, etc.) and successfully map an overall strategy to ensure successful deal outcomes
- Ability to excel in unstructured work environment with a minimum of management oversight
- Ability to grasp inventions in a wide range of fields outside own area of technical expertise
- Ability to comfortably communicate with people as varied as top scientists, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, attorneys, CEOs and other business people.
- Strong marketing skills
