Sustainable Agriculture Marketing Specialists help farmers navigate the difficult process of adding value to and marketing their products.

Job duties:
Responsibilities:
•Provide information on how to add value to farm products and transition to organic production and certification
•Help farmers develop marketing and business plans for sustainable and organic products
•Work directly with farmers and farm groups to provide information on marketing and/or adding value to agriculture products
•Research technical information on sustainable agriculture production and marketing topics
Req. candidate profile :
Candidates should have a bachelor or master degree or equivalent in agricultural business development with emphasis on farm economics, marketing, finance, business planning or value-added enterprise development
Qualifications: NCAT values excellent communication skills as jobs involve public speaking, writing and proposal development. All jobs may require specialists to prepare publications, topical summaries, bibliographies, workshop materials and website postings while targeting a variety of audiences of varying degrees of technical knowledge. Requirements may also include disseminating information to farmers via e-mail, telephone and in person and working with other sustainable agriculture specialists to identify farmer needs and appropriate delivery methods. Specialists may also assist in project development activities and attend conferences, workshops, seminars and related events in support of project duties. Travel is required.
