Responsibilities:
The Pilot Plant Manager/Supervisor (PPM/S) manages, coordinates and supervises all activities of the Crops Products Pilot Plant to support the research, technology transfer, and industry services programs of the Center for Crops Utilization Research. The PPM/S assists the Process Engineer and Director with planning facilities' operations and implements those plans. The PPM/S supervises all personnel using pilot plant equipment and facilities. The PPM/S is responsible for installation of equipment, equipment readiness and preventative maintenance, scheduling equipment and equipment operators ordering supplies, equipment operation, billing for services, equipment and facility modification and refurbishing, equipment acquisition, safety and security. The PPM manages revolving accounts for the pilot plants and the extraction services program, and assures financial solvency of those accounts.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering or closely related field. Three years of related experience that includes a strong processing background with knowledge of chemical, mechanical and electrical equipment, systems, and safety; experience using building and equipment blueprints and plan; and knowledge of basic principles of food processing (i.e. milling, pasteurization, extraction, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or closely related field. Experience with grant and contract research.
